Plant-derived hzAb proved as effective as animal-derived antibody in targeting tumors of xenotransplanted LS 174T cells in nude mice . The results of this study indicate that the hzAb derived from plant cell suspension cultures may have great potential for pharmaceutical applications in the development of future cancer therapeutic and diagnostic protocols .

In vitro bortezomib pretreatment of myeloma targets significantly enhanced elotuzumab-mediated antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity , both for OPM2 myeloma cells using natural killer or peripheral blood mononuclear cells from healthy donors and for primary myeloma cells using autologous natural killer effector cells . In an OPM2 myeloma xenograft model , elotuzumab in combination with bortezomib exhibited significantly enhanced in vivo antitumor activity . In addition , a sequence showing high similarity to the Arabidopsis cyclobutane pyrimidine dimer ( CPD ) photolyase gene , which has been found to be involved in sensitivity to UV radiation in Arabidopsis and rice , was mapped in the candidate genomic region of qUVR 10 . This result suggests that the CPD photolyase gene is a positional candidate for qUVR 10 .

Several approaches have been developed to detect chromosomal homology based on gene synteny or colinearity . RESULTS : In this study , we present a statistical approach to detect homologous chromosomal segments based on gene colinearity . We implement this approach in a software package ColinearScan to detect putative colinear regions using a dynamic programming algorithm . Statistical models are proposed to estimate proper parameter values and evaluate the significance of putative homologous regions . Statistical inference , high computational efficiency and flexibility of input data type are three key features of our approach . CONCLUSION : We apply ColinearScan to the Arabidopsis and rice genomes to detect duplicated regions within each species and homologous fragments between these two species . We find many more homologous chromosomal segments in the rice genome than previously reported . We also find many small colinear segments between rice and Arabidopsis genomes .
